Nighttime Trail Run!
At 7:00 my heart sank. I walked out to my car, a light mist of rain was falling. My heart sank not because there would be rain on the trail run. My heart sank because I feared the rain may scare those who are new to trail running away. I understood the fears of "What if I slip?" "What if I get injured?" My advice was to the tune of "Things like that happen for a reason. Don't hold up your life for fear what might happen." My concern was whether or not the rain would rob those runners of a exhilarating but challenging pleasure trip? I crossed my fingers and hoped everyone would show.
Wow! They showed! We had 14 night time trail runners! Three of which (maybe more), were first timers, they had never run trails at night. As they say, the stars aligned, and the moon came out. It was gorgeous! The low lying clouds swirled around the moon. Not one person saw a lion, a tiger, a bear, a snake. I don't even think there were bugs chomping at the bit to get us! Fears were put aside and we hit the trail. There may have been a slip here or there but no broken bones! What new found adventures we had!
We are called "Adventure Fitness". When we train at the garage, we are training for adventures like this. We train to be stronger. We train to experience the sense of the change in strength. The training we do at the garage is not just physically changing us. The challenging workouts, the "One more rep!", the pushing yourself beyond what you though possible, is what changes our lives in ways we least expect it. Yes, it enables us to actually do that last rep, to push that last 100 meters. More importantly, it trains us attempt those hurdles of things that once we thought "No, there's no way I would or could do that!" I think and hope that is what Adventure Fitness is. I hope that we have been apart of your new confidence and strength and that confidence sets you up for new adventures. I congratulate all of those who jumped a "box" they had always feared. Happy Trails!!
"Thank you for taking me on new adventures. Wouldn't be doing any of the fun stuff without you! The moon was the icing on the cake. Perfect." - C.C. - Adventure Fitness Athlete
In my opinion this text was the icing on the cake! Thank you!
