Setting the Example

On Tuesday, I wrote how great it was to see so many young ones out workin' it at Adventure Fitness.  I must admit I am surprised, yet thrilled buy the number of kids making it to class consistently.  And seemingly happy to be there!  What it is like at home, I am not sure.  Whether there is a little coercion going on, or a bit of bribery before hand, I hope not.  At my house, with a 5 and an 8 year old, sadly enough I do resort to a bit of bribery just to walk to the store - it's a block away!  I congratulate your kids on their attitude and their efforts for what they give while they are at Adventure Fitness.  They do an outstanding job.  I am inspired every time I see them begrudgingly take on something once thought impossible.  Well, I am inspired regardless of age when I witness someone attempt the seemingly impossible. To then see one excel is just moving beyond words.  I thank everyone for that!

This post is not necessarily about the kids.  It's about the adults.  The moms, dads, aunts, and uncles who bring them to Adventure Fitness. I can not tell you what this means to me.  You are setting the example of what it means to live a healthy life.  It is not always as alluring as the couch after a long day.  It is always worth it.  In the busy lives we all lead, not only is it sometimes a challenge to get ourselves out the door to workout but you are doing double time in getting the kids off the couch too.   I applaud you for showing the kids, this is difficult but we do it anyway. Sometimes, no most of the time, it is fun!  If you are like me, you do it for many reasons... its good for your heart, your legs, your clarity, your self esteem, your attitude, your skin, your relationships, and quite often it is simply to set a good example.

I thank you for the trust you have in Mike and I.  I believe I speak for Mike as well, we look after the kids as if they are our own.  They are our own. I thank you for the opportunity to give these kids a healthy environment to be a part of. They are our future and I don't mean Adventure Fitness's future but everyone's future.

If you are one with out kids, I thank you for setting the example as well. These kids are watching, they are paying attention.  They are saying I want to be like her/him. You are also paving the way. Thank you!

As Adventure Fitness continues to grow, there is so much to learn.  I can only hope we are setting the examples and standards you want the future to hold. I thank you for the opportunity to grow with you and your family.

Be the change you would like to see in the world.

Lots of Love,
Janet
